ASSESSMENT OF SERVICE POTENTIAL CENTER OF YILDIZ MOUNTAIN WINTER SPORTS CENTER

Abstract

Winter tourism for Sivas tourism has an important place. It is a city suitable for winter tourism due to Sivas climate. In this direction, Yıldız Mountain region has been evaluated as a winter sports center. Winter sports center was established with state investments in Yıldız Mountain region. Winter sports facilities are currently serving on Yıldız Mountain. In this scope, there are skiing facilities in the region, facilities for the day-trippers and accommodation facilities. However, the facilities remain idle with the closing of the ski season. In this study, it was discussed that the region could not be evaluated as a high altitude camp center during the periods outside the ski season. An assessment was made using secondary data in this direction. Secondary data were formulated by the General Directorate of Meteorology, Governorship of Sivas, Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, Cumhuriyet University and Sivas Culture and Tourism Provincial Directorate. In the direction of the obtained secondary data, the result of the physical, climatic and geographical conditions necessary for the Yıldız Mountain winter sports center to serve as a high altitude camp center has been achieved. On the other hand, the accommodation facilities were the result of the investments that had to be made in terms of organized tournament-organization and transportation.
