Age Groups and Service Expectations of Children of Tourists Visiting Hotels in the Antalya Region

Abstract

In 2017, the Antalya region received 10.5 million visitors. As is well known, Antalya boasts a coastline stretching 650 kilometers, extending from Kalkan to Gazipaşa. Within these boundaries, Antalya offers services through several renowned tourist areas, including Kalkan, Kaş, Tekirova, Kemer, Antalya City Center, Kundu, Belek, Side, Manavgat, Alanya, and Gazipaşa. Statistics indicate that a total of approximately 140,000 families visited these hotels, with the number of children accompanying them reaching around 332,000—an average of 2.3 children per family. This demonstrates that the Mediterranean region is a preferred destination for guests seeking a holiday centered on the "sea, sun, and sand" experience. Consequently, these establishments can be classified as resort hotels. It is crucial that these facilities are equipped with amenities tailored to the tourist profile described above. This explains why the hotel landscape in Antalya consists predominantly of five-star hotels and holiday villages; families with children favor these types of establishments. Their preference is driven not only by the "all-inclusive" service model but also by the availability of facilities that cater to every need of the children, thereby allowing parents to enjoy their holiday freely.
