Abstract

Industry stakeholders clearly state that in today's world—where individualism and social media-based friendships are becoming the dominant lifestyle—vacations, and particularly family vacations, are gaining increasing importance, a trend expected to grow further in the near future. When planning family vacations, parents prioritize their children's preferences, regardless of the children's ages. Recognizing this reality, tourism businesses are increasingly positioning themselves as "child-friendly." Being marketed as "child-friendly" in advertisements and/or tour operator catalogs offers businesses a significant competitive advantage. While some tour operators have developed their own criteria for this designation, there are no universally accepted standards. Existing criteria tend to be evaluated quantitatively rather than qualitatively; for instance, a lodging facility might be deemed child-friendly simply for offering a children's menu, regardless of whether that menu consists of ready-made meals or fresh ingredients. Yet, vacations provide an ideal setting for children to adopt new habits. Therefore, when evaluating businesses, it is essential to assess not only the mere presence of child-oriented services and facilities but—perhaps even more importantly—the content and quality of those offerings.
