Abstract
The strong relationship between nutrition and human health has encouraged people to adopt healthier eating habits. Individuals pay attention, as far as possible, to the foods they consume both in daily life and while traveling. In recent years, to protect themselves from illnesses proven to be related to nutrition, people have begun to examine whether their daily diets are natural, as well as their nutrient content and cooking methods. Obesity and various types of cancer, among the most serious health problems of our age, have also begun to change eating patterns. According to UNICEF data, approximately 700 million people worldwide are obese, including nearly 50 million children. Apart from metabolic disorders, the principal cause of obesity is excessive and unhealthy nutrition. Fast-food culture and a rapid lifestyle have led both adults and children toward a diet high in calories and fat and rich in refined food components. This eating pattern has become part not only of daily life but also of travel. After considering an accommodation establishment's general features, guests increasingly examine its food and beverage activities, additional buffets, and range of tastes in detail. Snack buffets, fast-food buffets, pizza ovens and counters, waffle stations, and similar facilities in hotels have begun to attract more demand than main meal services. As a result, children as well as adults adopt this type of diet, and the consumption of unhealthy foods increases. This study examines the nutrients and chemical composition of foods offered in special restaurants and buffets for children in accommodation establishments and evaluates them from a health perspective.
