Abstract
Rapid technological change in the twenty-first century affects tourism and the tourist-guiding profession. Technologies can improve tourist experiences and provide information before visitors reach a destination, but electronic guides in archaeological sites and museums may also create job-loss concerns among tourist guides. This study identifies the bibliometric profile of theses and articles on technology in the Turkish tourist-guiding literature and offers cumulative guidance for future research. TR Dizin journals, the Council of Higher Education National Thesis Center and Google Scholar were searched for 2005-2020, identifying 21 studies containing tourist guiding, tourist guide or technology in their titles or contents. The first study appeared in 2009, and publication numbers increased with technological development. Qualitative methods predominated, and tourist guides, mobile applications and technology were the most frequent keywords.
