Abstract
Blockchain technology has been gaining more and more attention in recent years, as it has the potential to significantly change how information is stored and used in the tourism sector, as in many other sectors, increase transparency and security, and improve operations. This technology has a profound impact on the future of the sector due to its contribution to revolutionizing the management of tourism processes and transforming tourist experiences. Despite the advantages provided by Blockchain technology in the tourism sector, the literature on the subject has not developed sufficiently. In this context, a bibliometric analysis of the studies conducted on the subject was conducted in order to reveal the current status of Blockchain technology in the tourism sector in Turkey. Within the scope of the study, a search was conducted with the keywords “tourism”, “blockchain”, “cryptocurrency”, “blockchain”, “blockchain in tourism” and 16 studies that were considered to be suitable for the purpose of the research were found. These studies were examined within the scope of the publication year, number of authors, keywords, published journal, purpose of the research and findings parameters. As a result of the research, it has been revealed that the subject has not received sufficient attention from researchers in Turkey, and that in order to conduct more research, the current situation should be determined and guiding knowledge for future research should be provided.
